Lillie's Story continues.....

Our Veterinarian confirmed that Lillie had a very bad ear infection. We suspected the ear drum had ruptured. During the entire examination, Lillie remained calm and did not show any signs of aggression. She just continued to purr. She seemed to know we were trying to help her.
After a month or more of antibiotics there was some improvement but Lillie was still having trouble breathing. In fact, the noisy breathing was getting worse. We were beginning to suspect that Lillie’s condition was more than a simple ear infection. Our fears were confirmed when a more thorough examination revealed a large growth at the back of her mouth. It was large and it was growing. Lillie would have increased difficulty eating and breathing and ultimately the growth would cause her to stop eating and she would die.
Now we had to make a very difficult decision. Lillie was less than a year old and already had a family who wanted to adopt her. We met with a Veterinary Surgeon who gave us a couple of options: she could remove the growth on the outside of Lillie’s middle ear and hope it did not come back or she could perform more extensive surgery and open the middle ear to remove all of the growth. The first option gave Lillie a 50/50 chance of having the growth come back. We opted for the second option which gave Lillie the best chance for a normal life.
Lillie came through the surgery with flying colors and the biopsy revealed a benign polyp. She kept her sweet disposition during the entire process and didn’t seem to mind the post surgery restrictions. Two weeks after the surgery, Lillie got the “all clear” from her doctor. Her breathing has returned to normal and she is playing and eating like a normal kitten. Soon Lillie will be moving in with her new family and enjoying her new life as a happy, healthy kitty.
We know we made the right decision for Lillie. If you’ve watched our short Lillie video, we think you will agree. Lillie’s surgery was expensive and Lillie’s doctors gave us the very best rate possible however we had to use our limited operations funds to pay the hospital bill. Now we need to raise additional funds to repay the operations account which funds our day-to-day activities. You can help by sending a donation to our Lillie Fund. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and will help us continue our rescue work. Lillie and all the Cat Corner cats thank you, in advance, for your support.
